Strategic Purpose Statement
The purpose of this qualification is to provide industries with graduates who will have fundamental theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the area of electronics hardware, embedded software engineering, and commercial product development.

Graduates of this qualification will be equipped with fundamental skills, knowledge, and attributes to work in the electronics industry under supervision.
Graduate profile
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

- Apply fundamental principles of mathematics, logic, computing, physics, chemistry, and technology to electronics technology problem solving.
- Apply fundamental principles of direct current circuit design to electronics technology applications.
- Design and build microcontroller systems and apply programming techniques to solve practical problems.
- Design and build circuits using transducers with analogue-to-digital converter (ADC) and digital-to-analogue converter (DAC) interface functions.
- Describe principles of the process industry uses to take a product from conception to production.
Education pathways
This qualification is suitable for learners who may have completed NCEA Level 2 or the New Zealand Certificate in Electronics Technology (Level 2) and have an interest in Electronics Technology.

- New Zealand Certificate in Electronics Technology (Level 3) [Ref. 3634];
- New Zealand Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Level 3) [Ref: 2387];
- New Zealand Certificate in Electrotechnology (Level 3) with strands in Installation and Service [Ref: 2767];
- New Zealand Certificate in Electrical Engineering Theory and Practice (Trade) (Level 4) [Ref. 2388];
- New Zealand Certificate in Industrial Measurement and Control (Theory) (Level 4) [Ref: 2252];
- New Zealand Certificate in Industrial Measurement and Control (Practice) (Level 4) [Ref: 2251].
- New Zealand Diploma in Engineering with strands in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering (Level 6) [Ref: 2612].
Employment pathways

Credits
