This qualification is for new public sector employees operating in a variety of roles.

Graduates of this qualification will benefit the public by being able to apply public sector principles and practices in support roles within this sector.

Graduates of this qualification will be capable of working with limited supervision and within the responsibilities and boundaries of their role within a range of environments in local and central government

Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

- Communicate effectively using public sector information.
- Apply knowledge of the structure and operation of the New Zealand public sector and the Treaty of Waitangi to meet the expectations of their role in the public sector.
- Act in an ethical and professional manner that meets public sector standards.
- Comply with legislative requirements to inform decision making in the public sector.
- Manage self and work cooperatively within a team to contribute to public sector outcomes.
Education pathways
Upon completion of this qualification, graduates may choose to specialise in technical qualification(s) in one or more of the following areas:
- Public sector with, for example, the New Zealand Certificate in Public Sector Service Delivery (Level 4) [Ref: 3636]
- Regulatory compliance with, for example, the New Zealand Certificate in Regulatory Compliance (Operational Knowledge) (Level 4) [Ref: 2775] and the New Zealand Certificate in Regulatory Compliance (Operational Practice) (Level 4) [Ref: 2776]
- Business
- Information and communication technology
- Health and safety.
Employment pathways

Credits

The credit value relates to the size of the qualification. One credit equates to ten hours of learning. One year's full-time study at a provider is usually 120 credits, but if you are studying part-time or in the work place the credit value may vary.
