Strategic Purpose Statement |
This qualification aims to provide the New Zealand healthcare sector with graduates who are able to manage and run services within private and public healthcare organisations, taking into account ethnicity and cultural diversity. The target learners for this programme are students with an appropriate background for study at Level 7 and the motivation to become managers or senior administrators in the healthcare sector.

Upon completion of this programme graduates will be able to:
GPO's Technical knowledge and skills 1 Apply specialised management and leadership concepts, theories, and practices for the effective and efficient management of healthcare organisations. 2 Utilize analytical frameworks, concepts, tools, and models for organisational innovation, improvement, and change in the healthcare sector. People skills 3 Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with internal and external stakeholders in healthcare organisations. 4 Develop effective HR processes and practices to enhance personal and organisational performance. 5 Work effectively in groups/ teams to achieve organisational objectives. Affective skills 6 Model appropriate social, ethical, cultural and professional behaviour in a healthcare setting 7 Take responsibility for managing self-learning, including development of personal management and leadership potential. Business (healthcare) environment 8 Analyse the healthcare environment in New Zealand and apply healthcare policies and laws for the efficient and effective management of healthcare organisations. 9 Critique current ethical issues in healthcare in New Zealand for the efficient and effective management of healthcare organisations. 10 Analyse and critique research outputs and conduct research to improve healthcare delivery in New Zealand. |

Entry Requirements |
* Student must be aged 18 years and over
* A level 6 qualification (or equivalent) in Healthcare, such as Nursing OR * A degree in other related disciplines* OR * A minimum of four years relevant industry experience in a Healthcare related field requiring knowledge and equivalent to at least a Level 6 Healthcare qualification. * International students for whom English is not their first language, must also have an IELTS score of 6.0 (Academic) with no individual band lower than 5.5, or TOEFL score of 550, or OET (with a minimum rating of B) or equivalent evidence of English Language proficiency. (*Related Disciplines: e.g. Social worker, community worker, midwifery, medicine, nursing, physiotherapy, dentistry, pharmacy, health, health management, health leadership, public management, business management) |
