Strategic Purpose Statement
This qualification aims to provide the New Zealand healthcare sector with graduates who are able to manage and run services within private and public healthcare organisations, taking into account ethnicity and cultural diversity. The target learners for this programme are students with an appropriate background for study at Level 7 and the motivation to become managers or senior administrators in the healthcare sector.
Graduate profile
Upon completion of this programme graduates will be able to:

Business (healthcare) environment
8 Analyse the healthcare environment in New Zealand and apply healthcare policies and laws for the efficient and effective management of healthcare organisations.
9 Critique current ethical issues in healthcare in New Zealand for the
efficient and effective management of healthcare organisations.
10 Analyse and critique research outputs and conduct research to improve healthcare delivery in New Zealand.
Education pathways
This qualification can lead to degree or post graduate level qualifications in health, business management, governance, public health, or other relevant industry qualifications; Example - Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health / Health Science / Social Sciences / Healthcare Management and other related qualifications.
Employment pathways
Graduates of this programme will be competent to undertake the following roles:
Nursing/Rest Home Manager/Administrator, Healthcare Unit Coordinator, Health Programme Coordinator, Community Health Centre Manager, Residential Health Services Manager, Aged Care Centre Manager, Clinic Manager, Health and Welfare Services Manager, Community Health Coordinator, Health Promotions Manager, Health Care assistant coordinator, Medical Records Coordinator, Health Care Facility/Clinical Manager (for Nurse in NZ registration), and other Managerial Roles related to Health/Medical.
Entry Requirements
* Student must be aged 18 years and over
* A level 6 qualification (or equivalent) in Healthcare, such as Nursing OR
* A degree in other related disciplines* OR
* A minimum of four years relevant industry experience in a Healthcare related field requiring knowledge and equivalent to at least a Level 6 Healthcare qualification.
* International students for whom English is not their first language, must also have an IELTS score of 6.0 (Academic) with no individual band lower than 5.5, or TOEFL score of 550, or OET (with a minimum rating of B) or equivalent evidence of English Language proficiency.

Credits
