Strategic Purpose Statement |
The purpose of this qualification is to provide experienced employees for the meat processing sector who are able to work as animal product examiners either:
- in a supervisory capacity in meat processing operations, or - supervising company meat inspectors. This qualification will ensure the maintenance of standards in animal product examination and verification that can provide domestic and international markets with confidence in a quality range of meat products. |

Graduate profile |
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:
- Coordinate compliance for product quality, health and safety and product safety programmes in a meat processing operation. - Develop strategies to manage conflict in a meat processing operation. Graduates of the Nominated Person Inspector-in-Charge strand will also be able to: - Compliance check edible and inedible areas in a meat processing operation. Graduates of the Rover Inspector strand will also be able to: - Monitor and verify post-mortem animal examinations. |

This qualification can lead on from the New Zealand Certificate in Meat Processing (Animal Product Examination) (Level 4) with an optional strand in Ante-Mortem [Ref: 3672] and on to further study.
