Strategic Purpose Statement
This programme is designed to provide students with programming skills to design and develop web and mobile applications.
The programme aims to equip students to apply research skills, creative and logical thinking skills as well as professional design skills to create and present original graphic designs, web applications and motion graphic compositions through a range of multimedia tools. The programme also focuses on building interactive, data-driven websites, developing rich internet web applications, managing back-end database, developing mobile applications, interactive and responsive web applications and motion media designs.
This programme is targeted for those who need to develop advanced technical knowledge in digital design, web development and mobile applications.
For those who are already working as a designer, the programme will enable them to improve web development and mobile application skills.
Graduate profile
Develop, create and present original graphic designs suitable for commercial publication in multiple media using industry standard software and practices and applying an advanced knowledge of design theory and visual communication

Integrate server side scripting tools and database to build interactive, data-driven webs sites; apply advanced knowledge and skills of back end database management 7. Apply advanced knowledge and skills of .NET to develop rich internet web applications 8. Develop and implement applications for mobile devices including smartphones and tablets

Entry Requirements
Applicants must be of 18 years of age and have a Diploma in IT. Domestic Applicants
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and have met New Zealand University Entrance requirements. In addition, applicants should have successfully completed a National or New Zealand Diploma in Computing or Information Technology at Level 5 or its equivalent.

International Applicants
Applicants whose first language is not English must show competency in English equivalent to IELTS 6.0 across all bands or TOEFL 550 or equivalent AND
Successfully completed a Diploma in Computing or Information Technology at Level 5 or its equivalent or a Non-Computing or Non-Information Technology Degree or equivalent subject to an entry test.

Content
The diploma is an intensive programme of study requiring 36 weeks of full-time study or part-time in double of this time period.
This programme is delivered in three core segments - digital design, web development, and mobile application development.
The eight courses making up the Diploma in Digital Design and Web Development (Level 7) will be delivered over one academic year consisting of 36 weeks (9 weeks in a term x 4 terms) excluding breaks.
