Strategic Purpose Statement |
This programme aims to equip graduates to administer and manage computer networks in New Zealand or overseas. Students targeted for entry to this course are international and domestic Students seeking to undertake advanced computing studies specialising in networks and security and seeking employment in these sub fields of computing or seeking to undertake further advanced studies in these areas.

Programme content includes:- -Fundamental theoretical and applied knowledge of computer hardware, network and data communication to underpin the study of computer networks at higher levels -Networking configuration, administration and helpdesk support -Installation and use of widely-used operating systems -Background of networking protocols and technologies that help in the installation, operation and maintenance of latest networking technologies -Theoretical and applied aspects of virtual networks and platforms -Theoretical and applied aspects of wireless and sensor networks -Theoretical and applied aspects of network security and forensics -Special topic (which may be a project).

Entry Requirements |
All domestic students must be at least 19 years old and hold a level 5 qualification in computing (or equivalent). International students must be at least 19 years old, have an IELTS proficency level in Academic English of 6.0 and hold a Level 5 qualification in computing or equivalent. Previous work experience in the computing sector would be an advantage. All applicants to the course will be required to complete an application form which demonstrates their interest/ experience in the computing sector and may be interviewed to assess their suitability for the course.
