Strategic Purpose Statement |
The GDAppIT is an applied vocational qualification that focuses on equipping students with the skills to analyse, design, develop, implement and maintain information systems across a variety of industries and business types. The programme has been developed to address the rapid changes in the information technology industry and the global shortage of skilled IT professionals.
Students from a range of backgrounds, including domestic and international graduates and IT professionals developing a new career pathway and wishing to upskill, will benefit from the knowledge and skills developed in GDAppIT. This qualification will suit a range of careers in the rapidly expanding and diversifying Information Technology industry. The combination of core modules and specialist vocational skills will enable students to graduate as highly competent Database Administrators or Database Developers or Network Engineers or Software Engineers or Web Developers. They may also be able to choose careers as IT Project Managers, IT Managers or Network and Cyber Security professionals. |

Graduate profile |
On successful completion of the GDAppIT, students will be able to:
Use problem solving and decision making techniques to provide innovative and timely Information Technology outcomes; Adapt to, and work effectively in, diverse work environments; Apply specialised technical knowledge and skills to a specific IT field, and to other IT fields where appropriate; Apply a broad range of generic skills, principles and practices, and mentor and motivate others in such application; Display welldeveloped critical thinking capabilities, including analysing, evaluating and critically reflecting on information, decisions and behaviour; Exercise selfdirection and adopt independent working practices and foster these in others; Accept responsibility for the quality of their own work outcomes and, where applicable, for the quality of others work outcomes; Apply independent learning skills that encourage the regular accessing of new knowledge and information; Use effective written communication and welldeveloped interpersonal skills and foster these in others; Work effectively in group situations, as a leader or a follower, as appropriate. |

Education pathways |
Students who have completed the Graduate Diploma in Applied Information Technology may subsequently enrol in the Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Information Technology or the Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Information Technology or the Master of Applied Information Technology.

Entry Requirements |
Candidates are required to have a bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification approved by the Centre's Programme Committee.
