Strategic Purpose Statement
The Graduate Diploma specialisms in Accounting, Management, Marketing and Professional Accounting give students who already have a degree, or extensive business experience, an opportunity to pursue study in a specific business discipline at an advanced undergraduate level.
Graduate profile
Graduates of a Graduate Diploma will be able to:
Demonstrate and apply core business competences such as - but not limited to - critical thinking, decision making, negotiation, presentation, problem solving, managing self and others.
Research, assess and critically evaluate business information relevant to their selected business areas and business environment and communicate this information in both written and oral form.
Evaluate and adopt different approaches to decision making as required by the environment.
Practise business in a legal, sustainable, ethical and culturally appropriate manner.
In addition to the skills listed for the Graduate Diplomas, graduates from the Graduate Diploma in Accounting will have the ability to:
Prepare and analyse information about economic transactions and events in a range of business environments and use this to support effective decision making.

Graduates will have completed the CA ANZ or CPA Australia academic requirements and will be prepared to start their mentored practical experience and professional programmes to become a Chartered Accountant or Certified Practising Accountant. They will also have the skills and knowledge to progress to postgraduate study in business or related fields
Employment pathways
On completion, students will have met the academic requirements for provisional membership of the professional accounting bodies (CA ANZ and CPA Australia) .

Entry Requirements
Applicants must have: An undergraduate degree in Business or a related area from an accredited New Zealand tertiary institution; OR An undergraduate degree in Business or a related area from an overseas tertiary institution, deemed by NZQA to be equivalent; All applicants must have a level of English sufficient to be able to study at this level. Those students whose first language is not English are required to demonstrate an IELTS Academic Score of 6.0 with no band score lower than 5.5, issued in the last two years or the equivalent. Applicants will be required to provide evidence of prior study or work experience relating to introductory accounting. In exceptional circumstances, an applicant who does not meet the academic requirements may be granted entry. They must supply evidence (eg. of relevant skills, education or work experience) to satisfy the Head of Department (or delegate) of their ability to successfully complete the Graduate Diploma in Professional Accounting. It is strongly recommended that applicants: provide a CA ANZ or CPA Australia assessment letter to ensure an accurate study plan is developed prior to commencement of study at NMIT.are able to competently utilise digital applications and technologies and have access to same
