Strategic Purpose Statement |
The purpose of this micro-credential is to equip learners with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely and effectively carry out methamphetamine sampling and screening in accordance with NZS 8510:2017, the New Zealand Standard for testing and decontamination of methamphetamine-contaminated properties.

On successful completion of this micro-credential, ākonga|learners will have theoretical and practical knowledge to demonstrate competencies required to:
* Demonstrate knowledge of health and safety for methamphetamine screening samplers * Demonstrate knowledge of methamphetamine screening sampling. * Prepare for methamphetamine screening sampling. * Complete methamphetamine screening sampling. * Complete methamphetamine screening assessment in accordance with selected testing methods and organisational requirements. Completion of this micro-credential benefits employers by equipping staff with the skills and knowledge to conduct compliant, safe, and accurate methamphetamine sampling. This reduces liability, ensures adherence to NZS 8510:2017, and enhances the credibility of the business in property assessment and remediation services. Employers gain confidence that their team can deliver high-quality, regulation-aligned work that protects clients and communities. |

This micro-credential offers a unique proposition as a similar package of skills and capability does not currently exist as a standalone credential or contained within any existing quality-assured programme for support workers.

Entry Requirements |
Entry into this micro-credential is restricted to individuals who meet the following criteria:
The ākonga|learner must be currently employed by an organisation that offers methamphetamine testing/screening in a role that enables them to meet all micro-credential outcomes. English language proficiency equivalent to IELTS Level 5.5 or support from their employer to meet this level. The ākonga|learner must: 1. Meet the requirements of the TEO policy and procedures. 2. Be supported by a supervisor or manager or trainer to complete the micro-credential practical component. 3. Have access to an appropriate client base that require methamphetamine sampling and testing. |
