Strategic Purpose Statement |
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the agrichemical industry with people who have the technical skills and knowledge to apply agrichemicals and work unsupervised in the agrichemical application industry.
The qualification includes strands that recognise specialist knowledge and practical skills relating to agrichemical application in various contexts. |

Graduate profile |
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:
- Manage the safe transport, storage, and disposal of agrichemicals to comply with industry standards and legislation. Graduates of the Aquatic strand will also be able to: - Apply agrichemicals safely to control aquatic weeds. Graduates of the Broadacre strand will also be able to: - Apply agrichemicals safely to control pests in crops or pastures. Graduates of the Tree and Vine Horticultural strand will also be able to: - Apply agrichemicals safely to control pests on tree and vine crops. Graduates of the Targeted Weed Control strand will also be able to: - Apply agrichemicals safely to control weeds. Graduates of the Total Vegetation Control strand will also be able to: - Apply agrichemicals safely to control vegetation. |

While there is no sector specific pathway for this qualification, graduates may enter self-employment and business qualifications such as the New Zealand Certificate in Business (First Line Management) (Level 4) [Ref: 2456] may be appropriate.

Entry Requirements |
It is recommended that candidates complete introductory applicator training prior to entering a programme that leads to the award of this qualification.
Programmes leading towards the achievement of this qualification must comply with NZS 8409:2004 Management of Agrichemicals. |
