Strategic Purpose Statement
The purpose of this qualification is to provide a pathway for graduates of 3D production and animation to further develop their existing skills to gain employment in roles above entry level. The programme has been developed to match the needs of these graduates and provides a simulated studio environment, experience of team productions and computer graphic (CG) workflows, and the opportunity to develop an industry standard show-reel. The 3D production industry will benefit by having graduates who, from the beginning of their employment, are able to contribute effectively to production in roles above entry level.
Graduate profile
Graduates of the Diploma in Advanced 3D Production (Level 7) will be able to:
* Produce computer graphics(CG) work to an industry standard as a Technical Artist.
* Demonstrate specialised technical art skills including but not limited to 3D asset creation, character/creature rigging, and effects simulations to meet the needs of the 3D production industry.
* Analyse and develop solutions to unfamiliar and complex 3D production problems by selecting, adapting and applying a range of industry-informed workflows.
* Apply time management techniques/methods to achieve set goals and deadlines for a range of productions.
* Demonstrate professional practice by applying self-reflection techniques and critically analyse and respond to feedback within individual and team production.
Education pathways
Graduates may seek to extend their design skills, and/or broaden their skill-set to include other digital media or creative design techniques, by continuing with further study/training at a similar or higher level.
Employment pathways
Graduates will be equipped with specialised skills in a chosen area of 3D production which will enable them to contribute effectively to the production of a variety of projects in the 3D production industry.
They may seek employment in roles such as an VFX Technical Director, CG Generalist, Look Dev Artist, Rendering Artist, 3D animator, 3D modeller, or Creature TD/rigger.

Entry Requirements
Prospective students will be interviewed to assess their ability to cope with the demands of the programme and to succeed in it. Applicants must provide a portfolio that demonstrates their technical and artistic ability.

Applicants must have successfully completed the New Zealand Diploma of Animation (Level 6) or be able to demonstrate, by providing samples of their work, equivalent skills to those covered in that programme.
Students who have English as a second language must demonstrate a level of English
