Teacher Education qualifications
Employment pathways
Employment pathways in creative areas are very diverse and notoriously hard to define. Many
graduates of postgraduate qualifications will have made the commitment to pursue independent
creative practice as their career. As such their nominal employment may well be unrelated to their
academic study, and financial rewards for creative work may be intermittent, certainly in the
period during which they become established practitioners. In addition, the creative practices
supported by the proposed qualifications are equally diverse, because the learning embodied in
these qualifications is not so much in the content of a discipline or practice, as in the thinking skills
that enable that practice to exist and be developed within the sphere of original research.
Having said that, the creative careers supported by the qualifications will at the very least
encompass the fields of visual art, design, film making and animation, photography, fashion,
broadcast media, music production, music performance, and theatre.
