Strategic Purpose Statement |
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the building and construction industry with concrete tradespeople who have the technical knowledge and skills required to plan and carry out specialist concrete operations.
The Concrete Sawing and Drilling, Prestressed Concrete, Precast Concrete and Concrete Pump Operation (Line Delivery System) and Concrete Pump Operation (Boom Delivery System) strands recognise the specialist technical knowledge and skills for the strand. Graduates will be able to operate unsupervised to perform to the required safety, technical, quality and productivity standards expected of a commercially competent concrete specialist tradesperson. |

Graduate profile |
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:
- Operate to the required safety, technical, quality and productivity standards expected of a concrete specialist. - Apply a range of communication and planning skills to manage and carry out concrete specialist operations. - Self-manage on-going learning, provide leadership to others and maintain the professional standards expected of a commercially competent concrete specialist. Graduates of the Concrete Sawing and Drilling strand will also be able to: - Apply specialist technical knowledge, practices and skills to carry out all aspects of concrete sawing and drilling operations. Graduates of the Prestressed Concrete strand will also be able to: - Apply specialist technical knowledge, practices and skills to manufacture prestressed concrete elements. Graduates of the Precast Concrete strand will also be able to: - Apply specialist technical knowledge, practices and skills to manufacture precast concrete elements. Graduates of the Concrete Pump Operation (Line Delivery System) strand will also be able to: - Apply specialist technical knowledge, practices, and skills to operate concrete pump machinery for line delivery systems. Graduates of the Concrete Pump Operation (Boom Delivery System) strand will also be able to: - Apply specialist technical knowledge, practices, and skills to operate concrete pump machinery for boom delivery systems. |

This qualification builds on the New Zealand Certificate in Concrete Construction Skills (Level 3) [Ref: 4189].
This qualification leads to the New Zealand Certificate in Concrete Construction (Commercial and Civil Infrastructure) (Level 4) with optional strands in Premanufactured Elements, and Post-tensioned Concrete [Ref: 4188] or the New Zealand Certificate in Construction Related Trades (Supervision) (Level 4) [Ref: 2381]. |
