Strategic Purpose Statement
This purpose of this qualification is to provide the concrete production sector with tradespeople capable of working unsupervised in a range of roles in specific areas of a concrete production plant.

This qualification is stranded in order to recognise the specialist skills and knowledge required to plan and carry out Batching, Dispatching, and Concrete Testing for concrete production.

The optional strand in Tensile Testing further recognises the skills required to perform specialist testing.

Graduates will be able to perform independently to the required safety, technical, quality and productivity standards expected in a commercial concrete production environment.
Graduate profile
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

- Apply a broad practical working knowledge of the fundamentals required in the concrete production trade.
- Operate to the required safety, technical, quality and productivity standards expected in a commercial concrete production environment.
- Self-manage on-going learning, provide leadership for others in the workplace and maintain the professional standards expected in a concrete production environment.

Graduates of the Batching strand will also be able to:
- Plan and carry out all aspects of concrete batching for a concrete production plant.

Graduates of the Dispatching strand will also be able to:
- Plan and carry out all aspects of forward ordering and dispatching in a concrete production plant.

Graduates of the Concrete Testing strand will also be able to:
- Plan and carry out all aspects of fresh concrete testing and compressive concrete testing for a concrete production plant.

Graduates of the Tensile Testing strand will also be able to:
- Plan and carry out all aspects of tensile and flexural concrete testing for a concrete production plant.
Education pathways
This qualification builds on the New Zealand Certificate in Building, Construction, and Allied Trades Skills (Level 3) [Ref: 3845] and/or Infrastructure Vocational Pathway for NCEA (Level 2).

This qualification leads to the Zealand Certificate in Construction Related Trades (Supervisor) (Level 4) [Ref: 2381] or further study in related fields.
Employment pathways

Entry Requirements
The Tensile Testing optional strand may only be completed concurrently with, or upon completion of, the strand in Concrete Testing.
