Strategic Purpose Statement |
The purpose of this qualification is to recognise the practical and fundamental knowledge and skills required for concrete construction trades in a range of contexts in the concrete construction industry.
This qualification is for people currently working in a concrete construction trade. Each strand recognises the technical knowledge and skills required to perform a specific concrete construction trade skill. The concrete construction industry will benefit from having workers who have formal recognition of concrete trade knowledge and skills, the ability to work to commercial standards, a pathway for further learning, and enhanced employment options. Graduates will be able to operate under supervision to the required safety, technical, quality and productivity standards expected of a commercial concrete worker. |

Graduates of this qualification will be able to:
- Operate to the required safety, technical, quality and productivity standards expected of a commercial concrete worker. - Demonstrate responsibility for own learning and performance in the concrete construction industry. - Apply teamwork and communication skills in a concrete construction workplace. Graduates of the Formwork strand will also be able to: - Apply working knowledge of current practices and technologies to construct formwork. Graduates of the Reinforcing strand will also be able to: - Apply working knowledge of current practices and technologies to bend and fix reinforcing. Graduates of the Placing and Finishing strand will also be able to: - Apply working knowledge of current practices and technologies to place and finish concrete. Graduates of the Specified Concrete Finishes strand will also be able to: - Apply working knowledge of current practices and technologies to create a range of specified concrete finishes. Graduates of the Concrete Product Manufacture strand will also be able to: - Apply working knowledge of current practices and technologies to manufacture concrete products such as masonry units, pavers and pipes. Graduates of the Concrete Sawing and Drilling strand will also be able to: - Apply working knowledge of current practices and technologies to saw and drill concrete. Graduates of the Precast Concrete Manufacture strand will also be able to: - Apply working knowledge of current practices and technologies to manufacture precast concrete elements. |
