Strategic Purpose Statement |
This qualification provides the wider building and construction industry with graduates who have the knowledge, skills and aptitude required to undertake on-site supervision of construction related teams and work programmes.
This qualification is targeted at people who have technical knowledge, skills and experience in a construction related trade and wish to gain the additional knowledge and skills required to supervise construction related teams and work programmes. Graduates will be able to self-manage their own learning and performance while also supervising construction related teams and work programmes to achieve expected commercial standards. Graduates of the Residential Building strand will also have the required knowledge and skills to supervise on-site operations of residential building teams and work programmes. This strand supports the Licensed Building Practitioners scheme administered by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE), and provides eligibility for a streamlined application process towards Carpentry Licence Class and Site Licence Area of Practice 1. Graduates of the Commercial Construction strand will also have the required knowledge and skills to supervise on-site operations of commercial construction teams and work programmes. Graduates of the Construction Related Trades strand will also have the required knowledge and skills to supervise on-site operations of specific construction related trades teams and work programmes. Graduates of the Construction Related Manufacturing strand will also have the required knowledge and skills to supervise on-site operations of specific construction related manufacturing teams and work programmes. |

Graduates of this qualification will be able to:
- Apply legislative frameworks to the on-site supervision of construction related work programmes. - Plan, coordinate and supervise on-site construction related work programmes. - Apply principles of supervision to lead and monitor construction related team members. - Apply quality management processes to construction related work programmes. - Supervise the knowledge and skills development of construction related team members. - Promote and support the physical and mental well-being of construction related team members. - Lead worksite practices that contribute to the social, economic and environmental sustainability of the building and construction industry. Graduates of the Commercial Construction strand will also be able to: - Apply knowledge of commercial construction methods and practices to provide on-site technical supervision for commercial construction work programmes - Maintain knowledge of current technologies, practices and materials within the commercial construction sector. Graduates of the Construction Related Manufacturing strand will also be able to: - Apply knowledge of methods and practices to provide technical supervision for work programmes within a specific construction related manufacturing trade. - Maintain knowledge of current technologies, practices and materials within a specific construction related manufacturing trade. Graduates of the Construction Related Trades strand will also be able to: - Apply knowledge of methods and practices to provide on-site technical supervision for work programmes within a specific construction related trade. - Maintain knowledge of current technologies, practices and materials within a specific construction related trade. Graduates of the Residential Building strand will also be able to: - Apply knowledge of residential building methods and practices to provide on-site technical supervision for residential building programmes. - Maintain knowledge of current technologies, practices and materials within the residential building sector. |
