Strategic Purpose Statement
The purpose of this qualification is to recognise the practical and fundamental knowledge and skills required to manufacture prenailed timber structures in a manufacturing environment.
This qualification is targeted at people entering into or working in the timber structure manufacture industry.
The building and construction sector will benefit from having skilled workers who are able to undertake timber structure manufacturing processes to industry standards. Learners will benefit from having their knowledge and skills recognised, a pathway to further training, and enhanced employment opportunities.
The qualification is stranded to recognise the specific technical knowledge and skills associated with the manufacture of timber wall frames, timber roof trusses, and flooring cassettes.
Graduates will be able to operate under supervision to the required safety, technical, quality and productivity standards expected of a commercial timber structure manufacturing worker.
Graduate profile
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

- Select and use tools, equipment and materials to manufacture timber structures.
- Interpret working drawings and make calculations to manufacture timber structures.
- Comply with safe work practices, environmental protection and building regulatory requirements relevant to the manufacture of timber structures.
- Manage own performance and work effectively with others as part of a timber structure manufacture work programme.
- Prepare assembled timber structures for delivery on site.

Graduates of the Wall Frame Manufacture strand will also be able to:
- Manufacture timber wall frames.

Graduates of the Roof Truss Manufacture strand will also be able to:
- Manufacture timber roof trusses.

Graduates of the Flooring Cassette Manufacture strand will also be able to:
- Manufacture flooring cassettes.
