Strategic Purpose Statement
This qualification is intended for adults with an intellectual disability who require specialised support with their learning in relation to skills for living, and who wish to gain skills that lead to employment or to further learning.

Graduates will be able to self-manage meaningful participation in social, cultural, family/whanau and community contexts, extending to a workplace and/or learning context with support.

This qualification recognises the aspirations and cultural identities of Māori, Pasifika, and disabled communities in Aotearoa in Aotearoa New Zealand.

This qualification allows the Aotearoa New Zealand community, employers and educational institutions to recognise the graduate's potential to enhance their participation in the community or the workplace, as a contributing citizen.
Graduate profile
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

- Demonstrate self-management of day to day living situations in a workplace, independent living, or further learning context.
- Act in accordance with responsibilities and requirements needed for day to day living, including participating in a work and/or further learning context.
- Apply problem-solving techniques to resolve day to day issues including personal safety, and health and well-being, in a range of situations including work and/or further learning.
- Plan a future pathway for work and/or further learning, and personal goals.
- Describe rights, and how to access support to uphold those rights.
- Use functional literacy, numeracy and communication skills required for day to day living, including work and/or further learning contexts.
- Carry out basic tasks in everyday situations, including work and/or further learning contexts.

This qualification may build on the New Zealand Certificate in Skills for Living for Supported Learners [Ref: 2853].

This qualification may lead to the New Zealand Certificate in Foundation Skills [Ref: 2861] or other qualifications on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework at Levels 1 or 2.

Credits
