Strategic Purpose Statement
To provide students with a solid foundation in biblical studies, theological
knowledge and reflection. It provides an in-depth engagement with Scripture,
Christian thought and history, and equips students with the skills they need for
pastoral and missional leadership, as well as other ministries.
Graduate profile
Graduates will:
* Be agents of change and grace as they live out the gospel in diverse
vocations.
* Be equipped to be leaders in church, non-profit, educational, and
other vocational settings.
* Be thoroughly Christian in terms of their perspective of the world and
the centrality of Christ.
* Have established a good biblical and theological knowledge which they
can continue to build on.
* Have been mentored, understanding the necessity of relationships for
sustained ministry and transformation.
* Have a heart for people and a holistic vision of the gospel making a
difference spiritually, socially, emotionally, and physically.
* Have developed the skills of reflective practice which allows them to
thoughtfully bring their lived experience into conversation with their
biblical and theological knowledge.
* Have developed the skills to discern the uniqueness of how God is at
work in a local context.
* Have gained life skills for leading, communicating, resolving conflict,
mentoring, and personal management.
* Have developed an awareness of self and their unique set of giftings
that enables them to recognise their best fit for Christian ministry
practice and their potential for development.
* Be thoroughly versed in their commitments to the Te Tiriti o
Waitangi/Treaty of Waitangi, as tangata whenua or tangata ti tiriti.
Education pathways
With a minimum Grade Point Average of 7.0 (B) graduates may progress to
postgraduate study, e.g. Postgraduate Certificate in Theology, Postgraduate
Diploma in Theology, Bachelor of Theology (Honours), or Master of Theology
Employment pathways
Graduating students will be qualified for careers in church leadership, churchbased ministries, youth work, cross-cultural ministries, inter-cultural ministries,
mission support work, para-church work, service agencies work, and many

Entry Requirements
General Admission Requirements
* NCEA Level 3
* Three subjects at Level 3, made up of 14 credits each in three approved
subjects (unless University Entrance was gained in 2020 when only 12
credits each in three approved subjects applies)
* Literacy: 10 credits at Level 2 or above, made up of:
o 5 credits in reading
o 5 credits in writing
* Numeracy: 10 credits at Level 1 or above, made up of:
o Achievement standards: specified achievement
standards available through a range of subjects, or
o Unit standards: package of three numeracy unit
standards (26623, 26626, 26627 - all three required).
NCEA Equivalence can include:
* University Entrance, A or B Bursary
* Overseas equivalent qualifications, including IB and CIE, or HSC
(Australia)
* Other NZQA level 3 certificates in relevant disciplines to Laidlaw
programmes
* Other NZQA level 4 certificate in a different discipline.
* The following may be accepted as equivalent at our discretion and the
applicant may need to sit assessment for entry:
o Reference/support/documentation from employer
o Evidence of level of academic achievement or a
portfolio of work for home-schooled students
English Language Requirements
* IELTS: 6.0 or higher with minimum 6.0 in all bands
* Pearson Test of English (Academic) score of 58

Credits

The credit value relates to the size of the qualification. One credit equates to ten hours of learning. One year's full-time study at a provider is usually 120 credits, but if you are studying part-time or in the work place the credit value may vary.
