Strategic Purpose Statement |
The purpose of the Graduate Diploma in Business is to provide a contemporary programme of study that will enhance opportunities for graduates of an undergraduate degree wishing to pursue a career or postgraduate studies in business or a related discipline. The programme aims to: * Develop students' business expertise. * Provide students with opportunities to liaise with the business community through internships and industry-based projects to develop specialist and transferrable skills. * Produce graduates who are future business leaders, critical thinkers, lifelong learners and meaningful contributors to organisations, economies and societies.

Graduate profile |
Graduates of the Graduate Diploma in Business will be able to: * Apply specialised business knowledge, skills and practices in various organisational settings. * Adapt to the business culture in Aotearoa New Zealand, and apply the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi to promote inclusive business environments. * Evaluate business information and situations to solve organisational problems. * Think strategically and practice self-management to achieve personal and organisational goals. * Assess and critically reflect on the responsibilities of businesses relating to the environment and society.

Education pathways |
Graduates will be able to continue onto the Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration at AIS or to other postgraduate studies at New Zealand or international universities.

Entry Requirements |
A candidate for admission to this programme of study shall: (a) hold a bachelor's degree (at least equivalent to New Zealand pass standard) awarded by a tertiary institution approved by the Academic Board, or equivalent qualification; and (b) have an English level equivalent to IELTS (Academic) 6.0 (with no band less than 5.5) / TOEFL iBT 60 (with a writing score of 18) / PToE academic score of 50 with no band lower than 42 / NZCEL (Academic) (Level 4); or (c) gain approval under Admission Regulation 1.3: Special Admission.

Content |
The Graduate Diploma in Business consists of 120 credits. Courses BUSS610 "Organisational Decision-Making Skills" (30 credits) and "Contemporary Organisational Improvement" (45 credits) or BUSS723 "Internship" are compulsory. Students will be able to choose elective courses from Business, Hospitality Management, Tourism Management and Information Technology for the remaining 45 credits. A minimum of 75 credits at Level 7 is required for the qualification to be awarded.
