The programme is designed to teach those accepted for the degree across all areas of the primary school curriculum, using Te Reo Ma¯ori and / or English as mediums of instruction, whilst connecting a Ma¯ori World view, values, protocols, and knowledge throughout.
Graduate profile
Te Rangakura prepares tauira to participate in the arena of Māori and English schools. This is achieved through the study of the New Zealand Curriculum Framework and Te Marautanga o Aotearoa and the development of skills in planning, implementation, assessment and evaluation. Te Rangakura takes the stance that Kaiwhakaako contribute to education that is uniquely fashioned by an iwi/hapū legacy and seeks to emulate this uniqueness as the key characteristics of the Te Rangakura graduate.
Education pathways
The programme provides a¯konga with the necessary knowledge and attitudes needed to access and impart "taonga tuku iho", as drawn from the study of iwi and hapu¯ values, knowledge and institutions, in a way that is consistent with the notion of a Ma¯ori world view curriculum and its application in the Ma¯ori Medium and English medium educational context. This programme also aims to develop the proficiency to successfully administer the delivery of curriculum as it applies to the primary school sector.
