This qualification provides the creative industries with performers and producers who have an extended repertoire of DJ and music production skills to perform competently and creatively.
Graduates can apply their skills and knowledge to contribute to cultural, social, and economic outcomes in Aotearoa New Zealand, as well as emerging trends in music production. The strands in this qualification allow graduates to have advanced skills in either DJ or music production. |

Graduates of this qualification will be able to:
- Apply advanced sound and music hardware and software to produce digital music. - Apply advanced sonic and music theories to create and produce digital music. - Apply business, research and analytical skills to inform own practice in DJ and music production. - Manage and take responsibility for own professional practice in DJ and music production. - Analyse characteristics of the DJ and music industry to inform own practice in DJ and music performance. - Analyse and reflect on musical works and techniques to inform own practice in DJ and music production. Graduates of the DJ strand will also be able to: - Apply advanced DJ techniques and skills to perform for and engage an audience. Graduates of the Music Production strand will also be able to: - Apply advanced techniques and processes to the production of digital music. |

This qualification builds on the New Zealand Certificate in DJ and Music Production (Level 4) [Ref: 3414].
This qualification may lead to the New Zealand Diploma in Audio Engineering and Production (Level 6) [Ref: 3423] and may also lead to further higher level study in a related field. |
