Strategic Purpose Statement
This micro-credential has been designed to meet the needs of two distinct learner groups who are preparing for a future career in the information technology (tech) industry:

- Learners in transition between school and tertiary study (including but not limited to school leavers).
- Mature adults planning a change of career pathway, who are aware about tech as a possible career but unsure about the opportunities and need to explore.

For both of those groups, the purpose of the micro-credential is to equip learners with the level of knowledge required to make informed decisions when planning their future tech industry careers.
Graduate profile
On successful completion of this micro-credential, learners/ākonga will be able to:

1. Describe the main categories of employment that are available within New Zealand's information technology industry.
2. Identify and describe the attitudes, skills and behaviours required by junior professionals in different tech industry career pathways within New Zealand.
3. Describe one or more tech career pathway(s) that best aligns with their own capabilities and interests.
4. Develop a professional development plan to maximise their potential for employment in one of their preferred tech career pathway(s).

Entry Requirements
All applications for admission to this programme are reviewed by Mission Ready to ensure that every applicant meets the admission and selection requirements stated below:
- All applicants for admission to this programme must be either (a) New Zealand citizens; or (b) permanent residents of New Zealand. Evidence of citizenship or permanent residency must be produced at the time of application for admission.
- All applicants for admission to this programme must be able to demonstrate a level of English language fluency that is equivalent to the requirements of NZEA Level 1 or higher. Where no acceptable evidence of language fluency exists, applicants may be required to take an appropriate language assessment test.
- In the event that there are more applications for admission than places available, the selection of successful applicants will be determined by telephone or video-enabled interview.
- Unsuccessful applicants will be referred to an appropriate alternative course or programme if applicable, and invited to apply again once they have completed that course.

* Consistently desirable attitudes and behaviours
* Collaboration skills and technology tools (e.g. Jira, Trello) applicable to interacting with other tech roles
* Attitude, skills and behaviour acquired by professionals in each tech career category.
* Industry project simulations for each separate tech career category,

Component 3: Self Development and Self Awareness
* Self-awareness and self-development
* Capability awareness and assessment tools (e.g. StrengthFinder, HBDI, Technius)

Qualification Type

Level

Credits

The credit value relates to the size of the qualification. One credit equates to ten hours of learning. One year's full-time study at a provider is usually 120 credits, but if you are studying part-time or in the work place the credit value may vary.
