Strategic Purpose Statement
This qualification is intended to provide a pathway into the Combined Services or similar type organisations to work with whānau, hapū, iwi and hapori.
Graduates of this qualification will be culturally aware of the diverse communities that make up New Zealand society and know the importance of being grounded in hauora (physical, mental and emotional wellbeing) for their roles.

- Analyse and apply understanding of cultural differences and worldviews to work with Māori and other ethnicities.
- Assess and apply effective communication approaches to engage with diverse communities and sub-cultures.
- Apply theoretical knowledge of hauora tinana to advance physical wellbeing.
- Apply theoretical knowledge of hauora hinengaro to advance mental and emotional wellbeing.

Graduates of this qualification that are wanting to continue to higher level study can enrol in
a wide range of level 5 programmes in a related field.
