Strategic Purpose Statement |
The purpose of this micro-credential is to provide formal recognition and credentialisation of the skills and knowledge required to apply nutrients safely and effectively as a groundspread operator.
The micro-credential will cater to those already experienced in nutrient application who wish to have their skills formally recognised. It also provides those new to groundspreading industry with a training framework endorsed by the industry and provides a training opportunity for those in other primary industries who would like to upskill in this area. |

On successful completion of this micro-credential, learners/ākonga will be able to apply nutrients safely, efficiently, and in accordance with both legislative and best-practice requirements. They will be self-aware and self-managing and will have awareness of and respect for their work environment.
Learners/ākonga will have knowledge of: - strategies to manage personal wellbeing in a nutrient-application role. - the environmental risks for transporting and applying nutrients, and associated best practice guidelines and risk management strategies. Learners/ākonga will be skilled in: - preparing, operating and maintaining nutrient-application machinery and equipment to ensure best agronomic outcomes and reduced environmental impact when applying nutrients. |

- Candidates must hold the class of driving licence and any licence endorsement appropriate to the vehicle being driven to be assessed for the standards mapped to Learning Outcome 3. - It is expected that learners/ākonga for this micro-credential will be employed in the groundspreading industry. The provider may be able to assist with placement for those not already in employment. |

On successful completion of this micro-credential learners/akōnga will be able to:
1. Apply strategies to manage personal wellbeing in a nutrient-application role. 2. Describe the environmental risks associated with transporting and applying nutrients, and interpret associated best-practice guidelines and risk-management strategies. 3. Prepare, operate, and maintain nutrient-application machinery and equipment to ensure best agronomic outcomes and reduced environmental impact when applying nutrients. On successful completion of this micro-credential learners/akōnga will achieve the following unit standards: 6257 Operate a mounted front-end loader for agricultural contracting Level 3, 5 credits 19048 Apply nutrients using mounted or trailed equipment Level 3, 6 credits 19370 Demonstrate knowledge of the Spreadmark Code of Practice as it applies to nutrient application Level 3, 2 credits 19371 Demonstrate knowledge of legislation and risk management in transporting and applying nutrients Level 3, 3 credits 19372 Describe the environmental implications of applying nutrients and associated activities Level 3, 2 credits 19373 Demonstrate knowledge of nutrients, and the implications for handling and applying nutrients Level 3, 3 credits 19374 Describe nutrient applicators and nutrient application, and operate nutrient-application machinery efficiently Level 4, 4 credits 28782 Apply nutrients in a primary industry setting Level 3, 5 credits 31832 Manage personal wellbeing when carrying out primary industry operational activities Level 3, 5 credits. |
