Strategic Purpose Statement |
The qualification is designed to provide the makeup and related industries with people who have the skills and knowledge to design, manufacture and fit performance prosthetics, and design and create performance makeup and special effects.
This qualification is for makeup and hair artists and others working in relevant industries who wish to develop advanced skills and knowledge as performance makeup artists or performance prosthetics technicians. It is also designed to accommodate those already employed in the performance makeup, prosthetics, and other relevant industries. Graduates will be capable of working independently in performance makeup and prosthetics contexts. |

Graduate profile |
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:
- Implement professional standards relating to prosthetics and performance makeup including relevant health, safety and hygiene obligations. - Design and manufacture prosthetics and create performance makeup and special effects in accordance with industry standards. - Prepare client's skin, and apply and remove prosthetics, wigs and/or hair pieces, performance makeup and special effects in accordance with industry standards. - Research characters for a given brief to create, modify and design body art and face and body designs. - Implement a broad range of communication and networking skills to work effectively within a performance makeup and prosthetics workplace. - Work to a given brief to meet production requirements to industry standards within a specified timeframe. |

This qualification builds on the New Zealand Certificate in Makeup Artistry and Hairstyling (Level 4) [Ref: 3456].
The qualification may lead to further higher-level qualifications and professional credentials in makeup. |
