Strategic Purpose Statement
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the aquaculture, commercial fishing, and seafood processing sectors with people who can work as advanced operators and/or in leadership roles in one or more of their chosen contexts.

Graduates will be capable of working in a self-managed capacity and may have some responsibility for the performance of others.

Graduates will be able to carry out advanced seafood operations in an Aquaculture, Commercial Fishing, General, Resource Management and Compliance or Seafood Processing context to meet the graduate outcomes.
Graduate profile
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

- Manage self and support team members to comply with workplace safety requirements and use hauora/wellbeing strategies to be safe and healthy in a seafood operation.
- Use effective communication that reflects the principles of whanaungatanga, manaakitanga, and kotahitanga to facilitate a positive environment in a seafood operation.
- Manage self and support team members to be responsible for the production of high-quality seafood by applying the principles of kaitiakitanga and rangatiratanga in a seafood operation.
- Apply quality assurance requirements and advanced technical skills and/or pan-sector industry skills to efficiently complete tasks in a seafood operation.
- Context Outcome: To achieve a context all GPOs must be met in the same context. Where GPOs are met in more than one context, the General context will be awarded.

This qualification builds on the New Zealand Certificate in Seafood Operations (Aquaculture/Commercial Fishing/General/Quality Control and Compliance/Seafood Processing) (Level 3) [Ref: 5022].

This qualification leads to the New Zealand Certificate in Seafood (Level 5) with strands in Aquaculture, Seafood Processing and Commercial Fishing [Ref: 3129].
