Strategic Purpose Statement |
The purpose of this micro-credential is to provide a formal credential to recognise the skills and knowledge attained by learners/ākonga as they enter leadership roles across a range of People, Food and Fibre industries in Aotearoa New Zealand. The micro-credential provides a training scaffold to support and upskill potential, new, or existing leaders, including seasonal workers and career changers, and workers in supporting industries, into leadership roles.
This micro-credential responds to the urgent need to increase the number of emerging leaders in People, Food and Fibre industries through a focused component on self-leadership, ensuring learners/ākonga are able to develop strategies for supporting personal wellbeing and resilience, including those caused by seasonal and environmental stressors. In addition, employees and learners will develop interpersonal skills and engagement strategies, complying with organisational policies and procedures, to effectively lead people. |

On successful completion of this micro-credential, learners/ākonga will be able to develop their leadership capability and lead engaged and productive teams, providing emerging leadership skills and knowledge in a range of People, Food and Fibre industries.
Learners/ākonga will have knowledge and skills in: - Sustaining personal wellbeing - Developing resilience - Exercising self-awareness and self-regulation - Developing cultural competency - Practising reflective leadership Learners/ākonga will have knowledge and skills in leading others through: - Inclusive and culturally responsive communication - Pastoral care, empathy, and emotional intelligence - Effective team engagement strategies - Constructive responses to seasonal and environmental challenges - Timely use of organisational/managerial support systems. |

Entry requirements
It is expected that learners/ākonga will be engaged in an emerging leadership role that will allow the learning outcomes of the micro-credential to be met. The provider may be able to assist with placement for those not already in employment or in leadership roles. Literacy and numeracy Learners/ākonga require sufficient levels of literacy and numeracy to allow them to read and understand workplace documents, complete necessary calculations, and complete assessments tasks. Providers will support learners/ākonga during delivery to ensure they have the level of literacy and numeracy required. |

On successful completion learners/ākonga will be able to:
1. Apply and develop self-leadership skills to strengthen personal wellbeing and resilience strategies in People, Food and Fibre operations. 2. Apply and develop interpersonal skills and engagement strategies, complying with organisation policies and procedures, to effectively lead teams in People, Food and Fibre operations. This is a learning outcome based Micro-Credential. Providers may submit applications for accreditation to deliver this micro-credential that are assessment standard based or using course-based methods. Applications should consider the content recommendations made below in the component descriptor and align with the credit values stipulated for each learning outcome. |
