Strategic Purpose Statement
The purpose of this micro-credential is to provide formal recognition and credentialisation of the skills and knowledge required to operate safely and effectively in a wool pressing role in the wool harvesting industry.
Graduate profile
On successful completion of this micro-credential, learners/ākonga will be able to work safely as a wool presser in accordance with both legislative and best-practice requirements. They will have awareness of and respect for their work environment.

Learners/ākonga will have knowledge of:
- Woolshed hazards and reporting procedures
- Safe and efficient sheep handling
- Wool pressing equipment
- Wool types and breeds
- Documentation requirements for wool bales

Learners/ākonga will be skilled in:
- Contributing to the safe set up of a woolshed
- Communicating with farmer, classer and leading wool handler
- Penning up sheep and maintaining tally information
- Changing and organising oddment fadges
- Identifying wool types
- Preparing a wool press for use
- Pressing wool safely and correctly
- Completing relevant documentation
- Storing wool bales

On successful completion learners/ākonga will be able to:
1. Identify and report hazards in a woolshed.
2. Contribute to the safe and effective set up and use of the woolshed.
3. Pen up sheep efficiently and safely and maintain tally documentation.
4. Prepare a wool press for use.
5. Press wool safely, complete documentation and store bales.

Entry Requirements
It is expected that providers refer to the below requirements when developing programme entry requirements:
* It is expected that learners/ākonga for this micro-credential will be employed in the wool harvesting industry. The provider may be able to assist with placement for those not already in employment.
* Learners/ākonga require sufficient levels of literacy and numeracy to allow them to read and understand workplace documents and complete assessments tasks. Providers will support learners/ākonga during delivery to ensure they have the level of literacy and numeracy required.

Credits
