Masters level programmes at universities and wānanga subject to entry requirements. As Masters' programmes can range from 1 - 2 years in duration, graduates of this programme will have to go through an application process at each university and/or wānanga to determine at which stage of the Master's programme they will be eligible. |

Entry Requirements |
Whare Mairanga Terms and Conditions of Enrolment and any relevant conditions specified by the Ministry of Education, the Education and Training Act 2020 and the Tertiary Commission. Uri should be:
- 18 years or older; - A New Zealand citizen (which includes citizens of Cook Island, Niue and Tokelau); - A New Zealand resident currently living in New Zealand; - An Australian citizen currently living in New Zealand; - An Australian permanent resident who has a returning residents visa and is currently living in New Zealand; Uri must meet the following admission criteria to be admitted to the programme: - Proficiency in spoken and written reo Māori. - An undergraduate degree and/or 2 or more years relevant experience in a leadership kaupapa within an educational context or within a community, marae, hapū and/or iwi. - An endorsement or support letter/video from a kura, community organisation, marae, hapū and/or iwi that outlines the ability to complete the programme and any support that can be provided to uri. - Special admission may be granted to uri who do not meet the admission criteria above but can demonstrate sufficient evidence of skills, knowledge and/or education within a mana motuhake leadership context. Any special admission applications will be approved by the Pou Mairanga or delegate. - Uri granted special admission may be required to meet specific conditions for their continued enrolment. This will be communicated in writing to uri at the time of granting the admission. Conditions may include provisional admission requirement to complete pre- or co-requisites; and/or requirement to maintain a specified level of achievement. |

- Leadership of self and other in kaupapa Māori contexts - Mana motuhake leadership involves being a kaitiaki of kaupapa, guided by ancestral wisdom, making decisions for future generations, and balancing self-leadership with leading others and kaupapa towards self-determination within historical, political, and social contexts. - Current and Future Leadership Practice - Applying ancestral wisdom to modern challenges through strategies that maintain cultural integrity while innovating, supported by case studies on successful integration of tukuihotanga in leadership. - Ancestral Leadership Practices - Integrating traditional knowledge and ancestral decision-making processes into contemporary leadership frameworks, drawing on key historical figures and their leadership styles. Leadership models and theories: - Theoretical foundations - Explore key leadership theories relevant to mana motuhake through a comparative analysis of Māori and global leadership models. - Case studies and examples - Analyse successful Māori leaders and international examples of self-determining leadership practices, comparing different leadership approaches. - Research and applications - Review current leadership research, apply findings to real-world scenarios, and develop a research project on a relevant leadership issue.
