Strategic Purpose Statement
The Master of Hospitality Management Applied at Le Cordon Bleu New Zealand is aimed to equip
graduates with advanced knowledge, skills, and expertise in hospitality management, empowering
them to create, own, and lead world-class businesses. The programme is termed 'applied' as it
encompasses 'real world' practical experience essential for success in the dynamic and competitive
hospitality industry, including the application of key aspects of te ao Māori that will enable graduates
to work successfully senior leadership roles both within New Zealand's hospitality landscape and
overseas. This programme is aimed and offers an elevated level of study for both hospitality
graduates and mid-level professionals from New Zealand and abroad.
Graduate profile
Graduates of the MHMA programme will have the knowledge, skills and capabilities to make highly effective contributions to hospitality business practice in both domestic and international organisation contexts. A Graduate of the Master of Hospitality Management Applied programme will be able to: 1. Evaluate and apply highly specialised knowledge and skills to the field of hospitality management. 2. Research, analyse and generate solutions to complex and sometimes unpredictable hospitality management current and emerging problems. 3. Establish and maintain an inclusive workplace culture of ethical and cultural integrity within a hospitality management context. 4. Demonstrate advanced leadership skills and risk management techniques within a hospitality setting.
Education pathways
Graduates who wish to pursue further study can seek admission to professional doctoral
programmes in New Zealand or overseas.
Employment pathways
Graduates' roles in the hospitality industry will vary according to the work experiences of students
prior to and during the programme. In some cases, graduates will be ready to work in senior
professional, supervisory or strategic roles. Students will have the potential to progress rapidly,
horizontally or laterally, within their chosen profession. The practical Applied Project will contribute
greatly to graduates employability outcomes.
Graduates with prior qualifications or experience will have the knowledge, skills and mind-set to

contexts. It also provides the qualification base from which to consider a career in hospitality
education.
Graduates of a MHMA can pursue a variety of rewarding careers within the hospitality industry. The
specific career path may depend on individual interests, specialization within the program, and prior

Entry Requirements
Academic
General Admission Requirements: Applicants must meet the following requirements:
* Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in business, management or a related hospitality area,
with at least a B- grade average at level 7 (or higher).
* LCBNZ Postgraduate Diploma in Hospitality Management (joint application with this
programme)
* Degrees in other disciplines may be considered if the applicant has at least three years'
relevant hospitality experience at a supervisory level, or equivalent.
English Language (for international students)
The minimum entry requirement for international students is IELTS Academic score of 6.5 with no
band score lower than 6 (or equivalent).
Special Entry
An applicant who does not meet all entry requirements may be granted entry where the Head of
School is satisfied the applicant is capable of undertaking the programme.
