He tohu tēnei hei whakarauora i te reo mā te āta whakatau i te tauira ki te whakamahi i ngā mātauranga tūāpapa reo, tikanga Māori hoki.
He mea e tutuki ai ngā whāinga ā-iwi, ā-hapori Māori o Aotearoa anō hoki e whai māramatanga ana ki te hiranga nui o te reo me ngā tikanga Māori ki te tuakiri tangata, te ao Māori me Aotearoa. Ka taea e ngā ihu puta o tēnei tohu te whakamahi i te mātauranga tūāpapa e tika ana ki te tū Māori mā te reo me ngā tikanga Māori. The purpose of this qualification is to nurture and sustain the vitality of te reo Māori by applying introductory mātauranga of reo and tikanga Māori. The qualification meets the needs of iwi, Māori and Aotearoa communities who are wanting to understand the significance of reo and tikanga Māori to identity, te ao Māori and Aotearoa. Graduates of this qualification will be able to apply an introductory range of mātauranga necessary to self-identify through reo and tikanga Māori. |

Describe Māori customs and expressions in a specific context. - Whakaatu i te hiranga nui o te reo Māori ki Aotearoa. Describe the significance of te reo Māori in Aotearoa. |
