He tohu tēnei hei whakarauora i te reo mā te whiriwhiri me te whakamahi hoki i te whānui o ngā pūkenga whaitake me te mātauranga reo, tikanga Māori hoki.
He mea e tutuki ai ngā whāinga ā-iwi, ā-hapori Māori, o Aotearoa anō hoki e whakamahi and whakaatu hoki ana i te hiranga nui o te reo me ngā tikanga Māori ki te tuakiri tangata, te ao Māori me Aotearoa. Ka taea e te ihu puta o tēnei tohu te whakamahi i te whānui o ngā pūkenga e tika ana ki te tū pūmau mā te reo me ngā tikanga Māori. The purpose of this qualification is to nurture and sustain the vitality of te reo Māori by selecting and applying a broad range of practical skills and mātauranga of reo and tikanga Māori. The qualification meets the need of iwi, Māori and Aotearoa communities who are wanting to apply and demonstrate the significance of reo and tikanga Māori to identity, te ao Māori and Aotearoa. Graduates of this qualification will be able to apply a broad range of skills necessary to self-embed through reo and tikanga Māori. |

Graduates of this qualification will be able to:
- Whakamahi i ngā āhuatanga wetereo me ngā rerenga wetereo i ngā horopaki matahuhua e taunga nei te tangata. Apply key reo Māori linguistic features and structures in various familiar contexts. - Wahapū i te reo Māori i ngā horopaki e taunga nei te tangata. Articulate te reo Māori in familiar contexts - Whakaatu i te mōhio ki ngā aria o te ao Māori ki te horopaki whai pānga. Demonstrate knowledge of te ao Māori concepts in relevant contexts. - Whakamārama i te rauoranga reo me ngā pānga o te whakarauora reo ki tētahi huarahi ako reo.
