Strategic Purpose Statement
The Master of Data Analytics will enhance learners' skills as future-ready professionals who can apply advanced data analytics and AI systems to support informed, ethical, and complex business decision-making. The programme is designed for graduates with prior study in related disciplines who aspire to progress into senior roles in data-driven environments.

Graduates will be equipped with advanced analytical and business expertise to deliver practical solutions and create value across diverse sectors and industries, contributing meaningfully to organisations, local communities, and the global economy.
Graduate profile
Graduates of this programme will be able to:
1.Analyse organisational data management challenges, considering technological factors in data interpretation and application to aid organisational effectiveness.
2. Apply innovative AI applications and systems designed to provide complex data insights and solutions that enhance productivity, support decision-making, and address organisational needs.
3. Apply an in-depth understanding of data privacy, sovereignty, and ethical considerations in data collection, storage, and usage, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and consideration of the bicultural society of Aotearoa New Zealand.
4. Apply a comprehensive understanding of designing, evaluating, and optimising scalable data infrastructures and AI systems to address complex organisational challenges, ensuring alignment with ethical, professional, operational, and technical requirements.
5. Engage critically with governance frameworks and ethical principles to evaluate data-driven decisions and AI deployment, ensuring responsible practices that respect bicultural values and promote equitable outcomes.
6. Critically evaluate strategic leadership approaches in data analytics, AI, and digital innovation as they pertain to driving organisational innovation and growth.

Capstone Project only:
Synthesise advanced proficiency in data-driven decision-making to generate actionable insights that effectively address complex, real-world challenges through independent analysis and strategic communication to diverse stakeholders.

Research Thesis only:
Conduct independent, original research in data analytics using advanced methodologies to generate insights that contribute to knowledge in the field while maintaining ethical and professional standards.

Entry Requirements
The minimum entry qualification for this Master's degree if enrolling in the Coursework only option:
- Bachelor's degree or Postgraduate Diploma or Postgraduate Certificate in a related discipline OR
- Graduate Diploma in a related discipline OR
- A combination of academic qualifications and relevant skills and knowledge acquired through work or professional experience (min. 2 ½ years in the last 6 years) that is deemed equivalent to the above.
The minimum entry qualification for this Master's degree if enrolling in the Research-based option:
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline with an average grade of B- in Level 7 papers OR
- Postgraduate Diploma or Postgraduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in a related discipline with an average grade of B- OR
- A combination of academic qualifications and relevant skills and knowledge acquired through work or professional experience (min. 2 ½ years in the last 6 years) that is deemed equivalent to the above.
Documented evidence of the applicant's ability to undertake postgraduate study is required, including an official transcript of the qualification(s) achieved.

English Language Entry Requirements:
- Applicants must have sufficient competence in the English language to undertake the Programme which is taught and assessed in English AND
- International learners must meet the English Proficiency Outcomes for International learners as set out in Appendix 1 of the NZQCF Programme Approval and Accreditation Rules. These can be accessed at https://www2.nzqa.govt.nz/

Special Admission:
Applicants who have not met the Entry Requirements may be eligible for special admission. We consider a number of factors when assessing special admissions, such as previous education, professional development and training, length of work experience, and motivation to study. Special admission may be granted on evaluation by the Head of School and the Academic Board, or delegate authority, based on supplied evidence. This may include, but is not limited to a resume, personal statement, employer attestation(s), and portfolio. This will be based on a case-by-case evaluation for each applicant. Applicants may be interviewed in person or via a suitable digital platform.

Visa and Insurance:
International learners require a valid visa and insurance to study on the programme. The type of visa will determine the mode of delivery.
