Strategic Purpose Statement
Graduate Diploma in Sport & Exercise graduates will have knowledge in a chosen subject area of sport and exercise. They will be prepared to advance professionally or pursue postgraduate study in their chosen field. The Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma in Sport and Exercise provide students with a comprehensive range of knowledge that is built on industry informed content and delivered in diverse and flexible learning environments. The experiential pedagogies embedded in the programme, ensure students are able to experience a broad range of sport and recreation activities. These activities are designed to create student engagement with individuals and communities, and build strong relationships with industry through applied learning and interaction.
Graduate profile
The Graduate Diploma in Sport and Exercise is designed for students who have a tertiary qualification in another field / and or considerable professional experience in sport, recreation or health and wish to obtain a further Graduate Diploma in these fields.

The programme is flexible with the student able to complete in one year full time or up to three years part time.
Education pathways
Students graduating from these programmes will be able to apply for postgraduate Sport and Exercise studies through AUT University.
Employment pathways
Sports Development, Sports Coordination, Health Promotion, Coaching, Teaching (via appropriate teacher training programmes), Exercise Instruction, Strength and Conditioning and Personal Training, Facility Management, Event Management.
