Entry Requirements
Students wishing to enrol in the Bachelor of Education, majoring in Early Years or Primary, must provide evidence of their ability to successfully pursue and complete a bachelor's degree.
Student entry is open to applicants who:
1. Are 18 years or older, and
2. Have a demonstrated interest or involvement in teaching and learning;
And either
3. Have successfully completed a relevant Level 4 certificate; Or
4. Have successfully completed level 2 or 3 NCEA (English/, Mathematics
Or
5. For students who do not meet these criteria but have special circumstance that warrants further consideration, are admitted through an interview and assessment process at the discretion of the Academic Board.

Note: All applicants will be required to consent to disclosure of criminal convictions and health status as part of the application process consistent with the requirements for provisional registration of the New Zealand Teachers Council.
All students offered placement in a teaching degree will be required to complete a police vetting form. Te Whare Wananga o Awanuiarangi will forward these applications to The New Zealand Police Vetting Service for processing

Students wishing to enrol in the Bachelor of Education, majoring in Tapiri, must provide evidence of their ability to successfully pursue and complete a bachelor's degree.
Student entry is open to applicants who:
1. Have completed a Level 7, New Zealand Diploma in Teaching recognised by the New Zealand teachers Council or Trained Teacher's Certificate (or New Zealand Qualifications Authority and NZ Teachers Council recognised equivalent); and
2. Be currently registered as a teacher in New Zealand; and
3. Have been a practising teacher or teacher educator in New Zealand for at least two of the last five years.
Or
4. For students who do not meet these criteria but have special circumstance that warrants further consideration, may be considered for admission through an interview and assessment process at the discretion of the Academic Board.
