Graduate profile |
The Graduate Diploma of Information Design (GDID) offers an innovative curriculum on how to create quality content for print and online documents - along with practice in doing so. We aim to help students develop both academic and professional skills in all aspects of information design.
The programme covers five core areas of study, providing a solid foundation of learning for anyone hoping to enter the technical communication field: Writing and editing Research techniques and communication theories Visual design Information management User experience and user testing After completing the five courses, you have the chance to put your learning into practice in a real world environment with an internship (minimum 200 hours) where you will complete an information design project. |

Entry Requirements |
A Bachelor's degree
Alternative Requirements Level 6 or 7 Diploma and relevant work and/or life experience (equivalent to a Bachelor's degree) or Evidence of equivalent practical, professional or educational experience eg 3 - 5 years full time work experience Additional Requirements English Requirements If English is not your first language you may also be required to provide evidence of your English language skills as listed below. If you have no evidence of your English language skills and are a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, contact us for an assessment. IELTS 8.0 Academic (no lower than 8.0 in reading and writing sub tests) or a degree gained with English as the medium of instruction. For acceptable alternatives refer to the English Proficiency Outcomes Chart. Note: If you have achieved NCEA Level 3 University Entrance requirements you are not required to provide evidence of English Language Skills. |

The NZQF has ten levels. Level one is least complex and is often entry-level, for example foundation certificates. Levels eight to ten are the most complex, and include post-graduate study.

The credit value relates to the size of the qualification. One credit equates to ten hours of learning. One year's full-time study at a provider is usually 120 credits, but if you are studying part-time or in the work place the credit value may vary.
