Strategic Purpose Statement |
The Bachelor of Teaching (ECE) is full time, 3 yr, field-based teacher education programme. Students are required to be working in a licensed (or licensed and chartered if established prior to December 2008) Early Childhood Centre in a voluntary or paid capacity for a minimum of 10 hours per week throughout the academic year, except when they are on teaching practicum. Students are placed each year in an Early Childhood Centre other than their normal place of work. This degree will build upon the strengths of the Diploma of Teaching (ECE) and further develops the visibility of critical thinking, theoretical frameworks and an increased research component.

Graduate profile |
This programme allows for study to attain a teaching qualification while being employed or working voluntarily in an early childhood setting. On completion of the Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) graduates will be ready to apply for registration as a professionally registered ECE teacher with the New Zealand Teachers Council.
