Strategic Purpose Statement
Graduates will be able to:
Identify human resources strategies, plans, policies and processes that meet the needs of an organisation, its employees and legal compliance;
Interpret developments in human resources management, an organisation?s changing needs and the external and internal business environment that impact on the organisation;
Develop and monitor effective placement, deployment and release processes;
Develop and analyse the learning, training and development needs of employees and report on the effectiveness of learning and development initiatives;
Identify processes to ensure legal and contractual compliance;
Create effective discipline and grievance procedures;
Evaluate appropriate strategies of employee relations, including relations with employee representatives;
Develop and monitor effective and equitable policies and systems of remuneration, reward and recognition that encourage employees to join, contribute to, and remain with an organisation;
Identify effective structure, culture, policies and programmes that ensure legal compliance and enhance the health, safety, and well-being of employees, and analyse and report on compliance with safety procedures in the organisation;
Analyse and monitor quantitative and qualitative measures necessary to evaluate the impact of human resources management on organisational performance;
Outline the implications of statutory requirements and ensure policies are in place to ensure compliance;
Understand the principles and processes of an effective performance management system;
Identify factors driving change and outline a major change process;
Gather and analyse information from a diverse range of sources;
Employ an organised approach to problem solving using critical thinking;
Apply ethical dimensions inherent in effective problem solving;
Reflect on their actions, and those of others, taking learning from both successes and failures;
Use effective communication and interpersonal skills in a variety of cultural contexts.

Level

The NZQF has ten levels. Level one is least complex and is often entry-level, for example foundation certificates. Levels eight to ten are the most complex, and include post-graduate study.

Credits

The credit value relates to the size of the qualification. One credit equates to ten hours of learning. One year's full-time study at a provider is usually 120 credits, but if you are studying part-time or in the work place the credit value may vary.
