Strategic Purpose Statement |
Graduates of the Certificate in Applied Mechanical Engineering (option selected) will be able to perform a wide variety of mechanical engineering related tasks relevant to:
Maintenance and Diagnostics Machining and Tool making Fabrication Light/Heavy/Welding Students will be able to safely, efficiently and effectively apply their skills and knowledge in their chosen field. Graduates who chose the Maintenance and Diagnostics option will be able to: Commission, install, diagnose, repair and decommission plant and equipment to required industry specifications Graduates who choose the Machining and Tool making option will be able to: Manufacture precision componentry from engineering materials using a wide variety of machining and hand processes. Graduates who choose the Fabrication/Welding options will be able to: Cut, shape and join metals to produce components and structures such as tube, pipe and structural sections as used in the fabrication industry. Successful graduates of the Certificate in Applied Mechanical Engineering will be able to work under limited supervision to interpret engineering drawings and instructions to install, commission diagnose, repair and decommission plant and equipment and produce a wide range of components and structures. |

NCEA Level 1 with a minimum of 12 credits in the literacy sub fields and 12 credits in the numeracy sub fields; or equivalent
IELTS 5.5 or proficiency in English Special entry is available |
