Strategic Purpose Statement
The programme aims to prepare students for professional careers within those creative industries that contribute to contemporary visual culture. Within the programme students will learn to create, critique and contextualise a range of visual images/objects related to the merging disciplines of design, photography, video, animation, web and illustration. At the end of the three-year programme graduating students will have a cohesive body of knowledge and be able to apply a range of high-level conceptual, creative and technical skills into areas they have individually targeted as potential markets, or to continue their education in related postgraduate studies.

Entry Requirements
All prospective students must provide the following: * a short written statement that outlines who you are and why you want to enrol in the programme, and an indication of your creative abilities in the form of two A4 pieces of photography, design, art (or photographs of) or electronic media such as a video or interactive file. For those under 20 years: o NCEA Level 3
o Three subjects at level 3 or above made up of:
* 14 credits each in three approved subjects
o Literacy - 10 credits at level 2 or above made up of:
* 5 credits in reading
* 5 credits in writing
o Numeracy - 10 credits at level 1 or above made up of
* Achievement standards--specified achievement standards through a range of subjects, or
* Unit standards, a package of three numeracy unit standards: 26623, 26626, 26627 (all three required)

Equivalent academic achievement
OR
On a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the Executive Dean
OR
Provisional enrolment.

Credits

The credit value relates to the size of the qualification. One credit equates to ten hours of learning. One year's full-time study at a provider is usually 120 credits, but if you are studying part-time or in the work place the credit value may vary.
