Entry Requirements
(a) Applicants under 20 years of age:

Admission under University Entrance\NCEA
Intending applicants must have achieved 3 C bursary passes or admission under the following NCEA criteria:

- at least 42 credits at Level 3 or higher on the NQF. At least 14 of these credits must be from each of two subjects from an approved list with another 14 of these credits from no more than two additional domains on the NQF

- and, at least 14 credits at Level 1 or higher in Mathematics or Pangarau
- and, at least 8 credits at Level 2 or higher which show reading and writing skills in English or Te Reo Maori
(b) Applicants 20 years and over
Intending applicants without the entry qualifications outlined above should be able to demonstrate the academic ability to undertake an undergraduate degree, and may be admitted under the Provisional Admission criteria.
(c) International Students
In addition to the above, the recommended minimum entry requirement for international students is IELTS (or equivalent) Level 6.5. However, international students may be accepted into the Degree with an IELTS score of 6 (if such an enrolment would not result in the displacement of an eligible domestic student) and the student is made fully aware of the implications of not meeting the required IELTS (or equivalent) Level 6.5 necessary for entry to Year 2.

Level

The NZQF has ten levels. Level one is least complex and is often entry-level, for example foundation certificates. Levels eight to ten are the most complex, and include post-graduate study.

Credits

The credit value relates to the size of the qualification. One credit equates to ten hours of learning. One year's full-time study at a provider is usually 120 credits, but if you are studying part-time or in the work place the credit value may vary.
