Graduates from the MIT Certificate in Commercial Logistics (Level 5) will be: in demand within the industry valued by employers for their professional and ethical behaviour able to work effectively in a team environment In addition, on successful completion of this programme a graduate will have: The skills and knowledge to be able to utilize complex operational systems, both manual and computerised, as commonly used in the shipping and forwarding industry. An ability to execute required documentation accurately and within given timeframes. The ability to problem solve on a regular basis and handle difficult situations with skill and diplomacy. An understanding of relevant codes, legislation, regulations and standards of practice used within the wider shipping and forwarding environment, and the importance of updating that knowledge, and the ability to apply them when deemed appropriate. The skills and knowledge to prepare and present accurate and timely quotations for the single and/or multimodal transportation of cargo. The ability to provide a high level of service to ensure customer satisfaction and retention, including appropriate communication skills. A knowledge of the financial and cost drivers that underpin a successful business operation and the role that individuals play in that. On completion of their selected specialisation, graduates will also possess: Freight Forwarding: The skills and knowledge to operate the processes for materials and products in storage and in transport, including an awareness of special requirements such as for dangerous goods. The skills and knowledge to provide accurate and informed advice regarding the most efficient and cost effective movement of goods.
