Strategic Purpose Statement
Graduates will have elementary technical studio skills specific for Contemporary Music Practices (in context of Band); possess the appropriate skills to play at least one instrument in a variety of popular/contemporary music styles; and to perform in a band(s); display a broad knowledge of music theory and notation; be able to compose and perform their own musical compositions; have a familiarity with a variety of media arts technologies processes and practices and design languages specific to Contemporary Music (in context of Band); have a range of approaches to problem solving; have basic practical skills; be able to pursue self-directed activities; be able to meet set deadlines; be able to undertake basic research; have elementary theoretical / historical / cultural knowledge; have basic communication skills; have basic computer skills; have the ability to develop, realise and evaluate work; be able to make informed choices about further study; be qualified to enter into further education in Contemporary Music technologies; Possess the appropriate technical skills and safe work practice habits required to produce Contemporary Music (in context of Band) works in their studio; have a set of elementary skills of value in managing an independent Contemporary Music Band; have sufficient Contemporary Music skills to find employment in Contemporary Music sector; be able to conduct research and critically evaluate their work; have an elementary understanding of the ethical, social, philosophical, historic and cultural issues relating to their professional practice.

Entry Requirements
All applicants must provide evidence of proficiency on their principal instrument by either audition or DVD/video recording. Applicants with English as a second language: IELTS Academic score of 5.5 or equivalent.
