Strategic Purpose Statement |
Graduates from this programme will have an understanding of how they learn best and what their individual learning styles are. They will have an understanding of career pathways and future study options at tertiary Level, that are relevant to them, and they will have the skills that will allow them to progress in these areas. Graduates are able to more take responsibility for their learning, and work with greater autonomy and as part of a team. Furthermore, they will have a range of learning strategies which will sustain further literacy, language and numeracy learning, allowing them to develop their vocabulary, to find meaning in texts, to evaluate, select, and organise information into a variety of text types. Graduates are able to consider further tertiary level study in certificate and diploma level programmes at Level 4 or Level 5 in Nursing, Aviation Engineering, Tourism, Applied Fitness, Arts and Media, or Bachelor of Commerce. Graduates of the Certificate in Tertiary Study (English Language), who need to develop more specific skills, can transition on to the Certificate in Tertiary Studies (Level 4) (Pathways).Graduates are able to work in a range of semi-skilled or skilled positions employment opportunities that require foundation levels of literacy and numeracy competence, for example, food service industries, construction and retail.

Entry Requirements |
Open entry. Those students whose first language is not English will have: An International English Language Testing System (IELTS) overall Academic score of 5.0 is required (with no band less than 4.5) issued within the last 2 years, or equivalent.
