Strategic Purpose Statement |
Promote knowledge, attitude and skills in the provision of basic mental health support in a culturally safe and appropriate manner; Adopt a partnership approach to mental health support work; Recognise the place of the Treaty of Waitangi as the basis for mental health support work; Appreciate the uniqueness and worth of each individual, family/whanua and community. Communicate effectively with consumers/tangata whai ora and others; Co-operate and collaborate with other members of the mental health team; Apply knowledge and skills related to mental illness and disability; Maintain a high standard of ethical and legal practice; Recognise and intervene in challenging and unacceptable behaviour; Provide basic first aid and life support; Protect health and safety in the workplace and for the consumers/tangata whai ora in their own home; Offer support to mental health consumers/tangata whai ora and their families/whanau.

Entry Requirements |
To be eligible for admission a candidate must: Be 20 years of age by Jan 1st of the year study commences; Be in either paid or voluntary employment in the Mental Health Sector by the 1st March of the year of study; Provide written authorisation
