Strategic Purpose Statement |
Because of the flexible broad configuration of the programme, participants are able to choose industry-specific content in order to meet specific industry requirements. This broad programme is able to be tailor-made to suit industry-defined requirements. Successful Northland Polytechnic Certificate in Applied Work Practice graduates will be able to: 1. Demonstrate competence in generic skills, appropriate attitudes and relevant knowledge as outlined in A. Core Safety Practice of Table 5. Recognise statutory rights and responsibilities Protect health and safety Identify the principles of workplace safety in a given workplace. Demonstrate safe work practices in a given workplace. Describe hazards that may harm workers, the work environment, and organisations Explain health and safety requirements for hazard control. Describe hazard control methods Identify hazards and apply risk assessment procedures. 2. Demonstrate competence in specific workplace skills, appropriate attitudes and relevant knowledge associated with machinery and other industrial equipment and materials.

Entry Requirements |
Be 16 years of age or older on the 1st of January in the year that the student enrols, unless approved otherwise by the Programme Manager An entry requirement is that each student can reasonably expect to achieve the standards required for successful completion.
