Strategic Purpose Statement |
Recipients of the diploma will be medical professionals with a sound working knowledge of the role of CPU (including its limitations). They will have the technical skills to obtain quality ultrasound images, undertake ultrasound-guided procedures, interpret images and safely use the information obtained in their clinical decision-making processes, and communicate their findings to colleagues and patients.

Content |
This is a one-year, part-time diploma programme that provides generalist medical practitioners with basic skills in ultrasound and echocardiography. The majority of participants are doctors actively working in rural hospital medicine, rural general practice emergency medicine or anaesthetics/intensive care, or in vocational training programmes for these scopes. The programme consists of two papers and includes distance learning and compulsory attendance at three intensive, three-day residential workshops.
