Strategic Purpose Statement |
At the end of the period of study participants will have developed an advanced knowledge of teaching and learning and be independent researchers of their own practices. They will understand the theories of teaching and student learning and how these apply to their own professional situations, across their institutions and in different disciplines and cultures. They will have leadership and mentoring skills and be able to guide other staff in issues pertaining to teaching and learning and higher education more broadly. A graduate will have a strong and critical sense of values and how these are developed and acquired by students.

The Master of Higher Education degree is designed for teachers in the higher education sector who wish to study higher education teaching and learning. The qualification requires 12 months of full-time study and includes courses in teaching, learning, academic leadership and research methods. There is a research-based project concerned with an improvement initiative related to the teacher's professional practice.

The credit value relates to the size of the qualification. One credit equates to ten hours of learning. One year's full-time study at a provider is usually 120 credits, but if you are studying part-time or in the work place the credit value may vary.
