Strategic Purpose Statement |
The CertSAOT is not an academic certificate. It is an internationally mandated tangible symbol of the fact that, by whatever training note travelled, a cadet has satisfactorily completed officership training and is now ready to be commissioned. The CertSAOT is additional to any academic or other award that a cadet may be required to complete during their training programme. The decision to commission an officer is at the discretion of each Territorial Commander, who receives recommendation from the Training Principal. In New Zealand, the requirements include the three components described above.
Laidlaw College states: On completion of the Diploma of Biblical Studies students will have developed the capacity to tell the biblical story, to read the Scriptures within their wider historical context and to understand a theological framework for life and ministry. They will have begun the process of developing the disciplines necessary both to maintain their own spiritual growth and to serve in voluntary leadership capacities within the church and in our world. On completion of the Diploma in Salvation Army Mission and Ministry (DipSAMM) the learner will have had an opportunity to examine, identify with, and commit to, the mission of the Salvation Army ? its spiritual heritage, traditions, doctrines, distinctives, vision, values and work and have completed the first stage of their learning the vocation of Salvation Army officership ? the role, context, and covenantal commitments. Discipleship formation focuses on the maturing of each cadet?s Christian faith and witness in the context of the particular beliefs, values and mission of The Salvation Army faith community. In particular, the programme intentionally seeks to provide opportunities for the cadet to come to possess ?the Army Spirit?, and to equip them with the essential characteristics of Salvation Army officership. |
